Getting started & registration

QWhat do I need to get started?

KINETIC LAB-Link runs in your smartphone browser — no app installation required. Please have the following ready before you begin.

  • A smartphone (with an internet connection)
  • An external battery (connected via a USB-C cable)
  • The activation code delivered by email
  • A Google account or Apple account (for initial registration)

Included in the box: the dedicated sensor, Quick Start Guide, User Manual, and B-TUBE (2× size S, 2× size M).

QHow do I complete initial registration (STEP 1)?

Initial registration requires a Google account or an Apple account. It takes just three steps.

  • 1. Scan the QR code with your smartphone, or enter the URL link.kinetic-lab.com.
  • 2. Sign in with your Google or Apple account.
  • 3. Register your details, such as your sport and any concerns.

Finally, enter the activation code delivered by email to complete registration.

QWhere can I find my activation code?

The activation code is sent separately by email after you order online. It is delivered to the email address used for your order.

QCan I use the product without an activation code?

No. The activation code is required for initial registration, and AI coaching cannot be used without it. The code-entry step cannot be skipped.

If you don't have a code, purchase AI coaching from the KINETIC LAB STORE and a code will be issued to you by email.

Once you enter the code, you can carry over your past measurement data.

Sensor connection & battery

QHow do I connect the sensor and external battery (STEP 2)?

Connect the dedicated sensor and the external battery with a USB-C cable. When the sensor's LCD screen lights up, it is ready to measure.

Before measuring, always check the battery level and the screen display.
QHow do I attach the external battery to the sensor?

Thread a rubber band through the slits on the top and bottom sides of the unit to secure the external battery to the back or bottom of the sensor. This keeps the battery from dangling during measurement so you can measure steadily.

QIs there anything to check before measuring?

Before you start measuring, please check the following two things.

  • The external battery has enough charge
  • The sensor's LCD screen is displaying correctly

Measurement takes some time. Don't rush — operate slowly and calmly.

Body scan (measurement)

QHow many points does the body scan measure, and in what order?

You measure 5 points on each side — 10 in total. Measure from the top of the body (the head) downward, in the order 1 → 2 → 3 → 4 → 5 → 6 → 7 → 8 → 9 → 10.

The 5 measurement points (scalene muscle / lateral chest / anatomical snuffbox / patellar ligament / behind the medial malleolus) have exact locations on the body. Please see the detailed illustrated guide.

QHow do I hold the sensor (measurement tips)?

Place the silver tip of the sensor gently into the hollow at each measurement point. There is no need to press hard.

Measurement takes a little time. Keep the tip resting in the hollow and operate slowly.

Q①·② Scalene muscle (side of the neck): where do I measure?

Measure behind the sternocleidomastoid muscle (the posterior triangle of the neck), in the hollow just above the collarbone. The hollow just above the collarbone, on the side of the neck, is your landmark.

Q③·④ Lateral chest (under the arm): where do I measure?

Measure under the arm, at the middle of the side of the ribcage, slightly above the line connecting the left and right nipples.

Measure the hollow that forms on the thumb side of the wrist when you gently spread your thumb. This hollow is the "anatomical snuffbox."

Measure the ligament just below the patella (kneecap) that runs to the shinbone. The cord-like part below the kneecap is your landmark.

Measurement tips & accuracy

QIs there any preparation for accurate measurement?

By the nature of the sensor, the surface condition of your skin (moisture, oils, chemicals) can cause measurement errors or fluctuating data. Always check the following before measuring.

  • Wipe off sweat (required): completely wipe sweat from the measurement area with a dry towel or paper.
  • No sunscreen, antiperspirant or body cream: if any is applied, wipe it off or wash it away before measuring.
💡
Practical tip: keep alcohol wipes (wet tissues) on hand and clean the skin right before measuring to greatly reduce measurement errors.
QIs it okay to measure while I'm sweaty?

No. Sweat on the skin prevents an accurate reading. Always wipe sweat completely off with a dry towel or paper at the measurement area before measuring.

QMeasurement won't start / errors out in a dry environment.

In extremely dry regions or environments, measurement may fail to start or error out with the default settings.

💡
When measuring in a dry environment, clean the skin with a shower or an alcohol wipe beforehand.
QI use a prosthetic limb or a cast. How do I measure?

At a spot with a prosthetic limb or cast, press the "Reset" button on the sensor screen, then select/confirm "Set to 0" before continuing to measure.

Registering it as "Set to 0" does not mean your results become inaccurate. It is a legitimate method for detecting your whole-body balance in this situation, and the results are reliable — please rest assured.

Sending data & QR scan

QHow do I send the measurement data (STEP 4)?

After measuring, use "QR scan" in the browser where you are logged in to AI coaching to read the QR code shown on the sensor's LCD. Once the scan completes, your measurement data is sent to AI coaching.

After logging in to AI coaching, use "QR scan" shown in the footer to read the QR code displayed on the dedicated sensor.
QThe QR code won't scan.

Scanning the QR code requires that your smartphone is connected to the internet and that you are logged in to AI coaching. Then check the following.

  • Scan from "QR scan" in the AI coaching bottom menu (use the QR scan inside AI coaching, not your phone's standard camera app)
  • Turn on a light in dark places
  • Check that the sensor screen (QR) isn't dirty
  • Hold it so the entire QR fits inside the frame and move slowly
  • Check that the browser has permission to use the camera
💡
Sweat and sunscreen cause measurement errors — they have nothing to do with QR scanning. If the QR won't scan, check the camera, lighting and connection.

Reading your results (Score & 3D)

QWhat does the Score (-2 to 10) mean?

The Score expresses, as a number, how well the day's natural environment (season, moon phase, etc.) matches your body's condition that day. A higher number means your body is more in sync with the natural environment.

  • The range is -2 to 10.
  • On high days your body tends to be more in harmony with the environment; on low days less so — treat it as a guide.
  • The Score does not judge good or bad. Use it as an indicator of day-to-day change.
  • A negative score (-2 to -1) is not an abnormality or a malfunction. It simply means your body was less in sync with the environment that day.
  • Even on a high-score day (such as 10), still do the exercise and breathing guidance. The Score is not a signal that you can skip today.

Today's Score is shown on Home under "Today's condition", and the trend over a period under "History" in the bottom menu. Even on low-score days, the aim is to adjust your body through the exercise and breathing guidance.
QDoes the 3D body model show my actual body?

The 3D body model shown on Home and in "Today's exercise & breathing guidance" is greatly exaggerated to make the tendencies of your body's imbalance easy to see. It does not mean your actual body looks exactly like this.

  • The model is for grasping tendencies such as tilt and orientation.
  • In "Exercise & breathing guidance", the model shows the pose to take. Match the direction of your head/face, your palms, and the front/back position of your feet to the model.

QWhere can I see today's Score, B-TUBE size and pose?

All of them are shown on the AI coaching Home.

  • Today's Score, 7-day average and trend: Home → "Today's condition"
  • Today's B-TUBE size: Home → "Today's breathing" (S or M is shown according to the moon phase)
  • Today's moon phase and seasonal condition: Home → "Today's seasonal condition" / "Today's moon"
  • 3D body model, overall findings and the Score on the measurement day: Home → "Overall findings of last measurement"
  • Breathing pose and gel points: "Today's exercise and breathing guidance", shown after measurement (also from "Exercise" in the bottom menu)

If what the AI advice (chat) says differs from Home, Home is correct.
QWhere can I see past measurement results (history)?

Open "History" in the AI coaching bottom menu to see the daily Score and its trend.

For the 10-day / 30-day / 180-day analysis, use the "Analyze your progress so far" button under "Progress so far" at the bottom of Home.

QDo I have to measure every day? Is there a set time of day?

We recommend measuring and doing the breathing method every day. Home → "Streak" shows your consecutive days and total count. Skipping days is not a problem — once you resume, it is reflected in your streak.

There is no set time of day. Choose a time when you can measure calmly, with sweat wiped off and no sunscreen, antiperspirant or cream on the skin (see "Is there any preparation for accurate measurement?").

AI coaching & account

QCan several people, such as family members, share one account?
Please never do this. AI coaching is a fully personal AI coach — "one account per user."

If several people share one account, everyone's body-balance data and measurement results get mixed into a single history, and the AI can no longer recognize your true condition. This leads to incorrect analysis and inappropriate exercise recommendations.

QWhat can AI coaching do?

Based on your measurement data, you receive body-balance analysis plus advice and exercise suggestions tailored to your condition. You can also consult it about physical concerns or improving your performance.

QCan I share my measurement data with a third party?

There is currently no feature to share measurement data with a third party. Your privacy is protected.

QWhat can the AI advice (chat) answer, and what can't it?

AI advice is an AI coach that advises you, based on the BC Total Balance System, while referring to your measurement results and today's condition.

It can answer

  • Today's breathing method and exercise, how to use the B-TUBE and gel, how to measure and measuring tips
  • How to read the Score and the 3D model, what today's condition means
  • What is written in this help site (registration, troubleshooting, overview of the terms, etc.)

It cannot answer (contact us / use the app screens)

  • Diagnosis, treatment or medication decisions (this service is not medical — please consult a doctor)
  • Discounts or refunds, cancellation or changes to your registration (Contact, or My Page → "Shop / contract changes")
  • Transfer to a human support agent (please use the contact form)

"Sports settings", "Body concerns" and "Work / lifestyle" in My Page are used by AI advice. Keeping them up to date gives you more relevant advice.
QWhat if I think an AI advice answer is wrong or strange?

AI answers are for reference. Check in this order.

  • The app display takes priority: today's B-TUBE size, pose, Score, etc. — the display on Home and "Today's exercise and breathing guidance" is correct, not the AI's answer.
  • Check this help site: for operation, specifications and terms, what is written in this help (FAQ) is correct.
  • Report it: for clear errors, please contact us with the question and the AI's answer. We use reports to improve.

Breathing method (B-TUBE)

QWhat posture do I use for the breathing method?

Take the pose shown on the AI-coaching screen. Pay attention to these three points:

  • Neck direction: for the right side, turn your neck to the right and look diagonally up; for the left side, turn to the left and look diagonally upward.
  • Palm direction: match the direction shown on the screen.
  • Feet front-back: place the right or the left foot forward, as shown on the screen.

QThe screen says "Take the pose shown on the body model." What should I do? (Today's exercise and breathing guidance)

This is not an instruction about your posture during measurement. It is the pose instruction for the breathing method and exercise, shown in steps ① and ③ of "Today's exercise and breathing guidance" after your measurement.

When you take a pose like this, first settle into the pose shown on the body model, then hold still for about 15 seconds and feel your body.

  • 1. Take the same pose as the body model on the screen (neck and face direction, palm direction, feet front-back and left-right).
  • 2. Once the pose is set and you feel settled, stop moving.
  • 3. Hold still for about 15 seconds and notice how your body feels (tightness, difficulty, left-right differences).

Don't rush on to the next step — taking time to hold still and feel your body is what matters. For how to take the pose, see also "What posture do I use for the breathing method?"
QI can't relax my palms or the soles of my feet.

Trying to spread your fingers puts tension into the palm. Focus on letting the palm itself, not the fingers, spread out freely.

The same goes for the feet: trying to spread the toes tenses the sole, so focus on letting the sole itself, not the toes, spread out freely.

QHow do I inhale and exhale with the B-TUBE?

The B-TUBE (dedicated tube) comes in three sizes: S, M and L (S×2 and M×2 are included). The size to use each day is shown on the AI coaching Home under "Today's breathing" — follow that instruction.

  • Inhaling: hold the tube in your mouth and inhale through the tube. Keep the ribs and abdomen from moving — but without stiffening them — and breathe in deeply.
  • Exhaling: you may breathe out through the nose or the mouth — either is fine. Inhaling is the goal, so do not think about how long you exhale; release the strain and breathe out comfortably.
  • Repetitions: 5 sets (one inhale + one exhale = one set) as the standard.
Bad examples: tension entering the shoulders and neck, the chest, or the back and lower back. Breathe properly so that this does not happen.

QHow many breaths should I take with the B-TUBE?

5 sets (one inhale + one exhale = one set) as the standard.

The number of repetitions does not change with the B-TUBE size (S / M). The same 5 sets are the standard for both.

QHow many seconds should I inhale and exhale for?

It varies from person to person, but an inhale takes roughly 9 to 12 seconds. Inhale strongly so that the air reaches the bottom of your abdomen.

You may breathe out through the nose or the mouth — either is fine. Inhaling is the goal, so do not think about how long you exhale; just breathe out comfortably.

Is the timing the same for S and M: because S is the narrower tube, the inhale tends to take longer. For either size, inhale strongly so the air reaches the bottom of your abdomen.

Releasing tension

QI can't relax my palms or the soles of my feet.

Trying to spread your fingers puts tension into the palm. Focus on letting the palm itself, not the fingers, spread out freely.

The same goes for the feet: trying to spread the toes tenses the sole, so focus on letting the sole itself, not the toes, spread out freely.

Gel or balm & feedback

QWhere and how do I apply the gel or balm?

In the instruction videos and some materials this is called "oil". It is the same product as the gel / balm (ALA TR Gel / Kinetic Balm). The app now says "gel or balm".

The gel or balm is applied after the breathing method to the "gel points" on your own body. Your own gel points are displayed in red in the AI coaching (application). Take the gel in your hand and apply it to the red areas shown.

  • Apply it gently and slowly with your hand.
  • There is no need to rub it in hard or to massage.
  • Do not apply it to the sensor or to the measurement points. The gel is not for measuring; it is for conditioning your body after the breathing method.

Replacement gel is available at the KINETIC LAB STORE.

QBefore the breathing method, how do I find my harder side (left-right difference)?

Before the breathing method and gel, check which side of your body is "harder" (so you can compare afterwards).

First, if you have symptoms of your own — for example a sore shoulder — check the condition of that area.

If you have no such symptoms, the pose shown in the AI coaching (application) is the one that is harder for you. Check the neck and face direction, the palms, and the feet front-back and left-right differences, then identify which side is harder and which side is easier.

QAfter the breathing method and gel, what should I check? (self-check)

This is not a check that the measurement is complete. After finishing the whole sequence — the breathing method, applying the gel, and so on — check the neck and face direction, the palms, and the feet front-back and left-right differences once more and compare with the "harder side" you found before.

  • If you see no improvement: return to the breathing method and do it again.
  • If you see improvement: you are done. Thank you for your effort.
QWhat should I do if I feel pain or dizziness during the breathing method or exercise?

Stop immediately and do not push through. Do not repeat the movement or pose that caused pain that day, and rest until you feel settled.

  • Dizziness or feeling unwell: sit or lie down, steady your breathing and rest. If it does not pass, seek medical care.
  • Pain that persists, is strong or gets worse: do not self-judge — consult a doctor or other professional.
  • On days you feel unwell or have symptoms, skip measuring and the breathing method (Terms of Service, Article 5).

Web streaming (online seminars)

QWhat is the web streaming (online seminar)?

As a benefit for KINETIC LAB-Link users, we stream the "Kinetic Academy" seminars on the web. You can watch the sessions from home or anywhere else.

  • Streams are held on an irregular schedule.
  • The format varies by session: some are streamed in real time, others are recordings of the seminar.
  • No extra charge — it is a LAB-Link membership benefit.

Whether a stream takes place, when, and in which format is announced as soon as it is decided in the AI coaching bottom menu "Live" → "Event calendar" (and in "Notices from support" on Home). Past streams may be listed under "Event archive" in "Live".
QWhere can I check the streaming schedule?

Open "Live" in the AI coaching bottom menu and see the "Event calendar". Because streams are irregular, each one is posted there — with the date, time and viewing URL — once it is scheduled. Please check it before the event.

New streams are also announced under "Notices from support" on Home.

QHow do I watch?

The streaming platform is YouTube. To watch:

  • 1. Open "Live" in the AI coaching bottom menu.
  • 2. In the "Event calendar", open the event's "Details" and tap the viewing URL.
  • 3. Watch on the YouTube page.

Past streams may be available under "Event archive" in "Live" (not every session is kept).

Please use only the official URL posted in "Live" for each event. Kindly do not share or redistribute the URL on social media, etc.
QWhat should I keep in mind when watching?

For comfortable viewing, please prepare your own viewing environment. The following are not guaranteed or covered by us.

  • Internet connection: please have a stable connection such as Wi-Fi.
  • Data charges: any communication charges for viewing are at your own expense. Mobile connections may use a large amount of data.
  • Device & software: please prepare your own smartphone / PC, a supported browser, the YouTube app, etc.
  • Handling of the URL: please do not share the viewing URL with third parties or repost it on social media, etc.
  • No recording or reuse: please refrain from recording, capturing audio, taking screenshots, copying, redistributing, or otherwise reusing the content (copyright belongs to us or the rights holders).
  • Archive (catch-up): a stream may not be kept. We do not guarantee availability or how long it stays online.
What we are not liable for: viewing problems caused by your connection, data charges, device, or settings; outages, spec changes, or service suspensions on YouTube's side (the streaming platform); and any damages arising from these. We accept no liability for such matters.

QI don't have a B-TUBE. How can I get one?

The B-TUBE can be purchased from the KINETIC LAB STORE.

If you purchased the dedicated sensor, 2 × size S and 2 × size M are included in the box. Please check the included B-TUBEs first.

QHow do I choose the B-TUBE size (S / M / L)?

The B-TUBE comes in three sizes: S, M and L. The size to use each day is shown on the AI coaching Home under "Today's breathing" — follow that display rather than deciding yourself (it is not chosen by body size).

As a guide, size S is used more often when the moon is a "waxing moon" (bright on the right), and size M when it is a "waning moon" (bright on the left).

Size L is used for breathing training while playing sports and for people with weak breathing (not included in the box).

QI've run out of gel or consumables. Can I re-order?

Yes. The dedicated gel (oil) and consumables (replacement sensor heads, extra B-TUBEs, etc.) can be re-ordered from the KINETIC LAB STORE.

The dedicated gel is not included with the sensor (the box contains the dedicated sensor, quick start guide, user manual and B-TUBE S×2 / M×2). Please purchase the gel separately from the STORE.

Pricing, contract & plans

QCan I change my plan?

Plan changes are not accepted. Please review your contract details for more information.

QHow do I cancel my account, delete it, or change my registered details (e-mail, etc.)?
  • Name, e-mail address, sports settings, body concerns: change them in the AI coaching My Page ("Account info" and each setting's "Save changes").
  • Checking or changing your contract: My Page → "Shop / contract changes". Plan changes are not accepted (see "Can I change my plan?").
  • Withdrawal, account deletion, cancellation: these cannot be done in the AI advice (chat) or in the app. Please use the contact form and include your registered e-mail address. For refunds and auto-renewal, see "How do subscription auto-renewal, cancellation, and refunds work?".

Troubleshooting

QWhat if the QR code won't scan?

Check in this order: ① internet connection → ② logged in to AI coaching → ③ scan from "QR scan" in the bottom menu → ④ lighting, QR not dirty, whole QR inside the frame → ⑤ browser camera permission.

QI haven't signed up for AI coaching / I don't have a code.

If you haven't signed up for AI coaching yet, please purchase it from the KINETIC LAB STORE. After purchase, an activation code will be issued to you by email.

QI can't log in (sign in).

You can log in with your email address + password, or with a Google/Apple account. Please check the following in order.

  • Are you using the same method/account you registered with? Log in with Google if you registered with Google, Apple if you used Apple, or the same email address if you registered by email. A different method or account will not carry over your data and starts fresh.
  • The Google/Apple login screen won't open: Login opens in a separate window (tab). Allow pop-ups in your browser and try again.
  • You don't know your password: Use "Forgot your password?" on the login screen to reset it. If the email doesn't arrive, see "The password reset email isn't arriving".
  • Connection: Make sure you're online with a good signal and try again. If it's a temporary load, wait a little and retry.

After a period of inactivity you may be logged out automatically for security. If so, please log in again.

QThe registration confirmation (verification) email isn't arriving.

When you register with an email address and password, we send a "registration confirmation email (verification email)" to confirm it's you. Opening the link in it completes your registration. If it doesn't arrive, please check the following.

QThe password reset email isn't arriving.

When you send your email address from "Forgot your password?" on the login screen, we send a "password reset email". You can set a new password from the link in it. If it doesn't arrive, please check the following.

  • Check your spam/junk folder
  • Make sure you entered a registered email address (unregistered addresses receive nothing)
  • If you registered with Google/Apple you have no password: in that case, don't use "Forgot your password?" — log in with the Google/Apple button you registered with.

QMeasurement isn't working. What should I check?

In most cases, the surface condition of your skin is the cause. Please check the following.

  • Completely wipe off sweat at the measurement area
  • Wipe off / wash away sunscreen, antiperspirant, or body cream
  • In a dry environment, clean the skin beforehand
  • Place the sensor tip gently into the hollow and operate slowly
QThe sensor won't turn on / the LCD screen doesn't light up.

The dedicated sensor is powered by the external battery via USB-C. Check in this order.

  • Does the external battery have charge (can it charge another device)?
  • Unplug and re-plug the USB-C cable and check it is firmly connected. If possible, try another cable or battery
  • Once connected, the sensor is ready when its LCD screen appears

If it still won't turn on, please contact us with the purchase date and symptoms (the warranty is one year from purchase — see "How long is the sensor's warranty period?").

QWhat if the sensor tip (sensor head) is broken or worn?

The sensor head at the tip is a consumable. If it is broken or worn, replace it yourself with a replacement sensor head from the KINETIC LAB STORE (consumables are not covered by the warranty).

With daily use, replacement about once every six months is recommended to keep measurements accurate.
